Counting cars in a photo

The plan was to run a pre-trained YOLO detector through cvlib on a street photo and count the cars it found.

Original tutorial by Aman Kharwal: Count Objects in Image (opens in a new tab)

What it printed in 2022

Nothing useful was printed, because the notebook did not get that far.

Where it stopped

The first and only cell failed with ModuleNotFoundError because OpenCV was not installed, and the image was missing too.

  • ModuleNotFoundError in cell 2: No module named 'cv2'

The data

A single photo of cars. It is not in the repository.

What I'd do differently

  • Pin the environment in a requirements file before starting.
  • Commit or document the input image so the notebook can run anywhere.
